Breakaway to the southwest of France - 900 miles south of London, just over an hour by plane from Stansted, 12 hours by Eurostar and TGV from London or two days drive from northern France. You will arrive in the peace and quiet of our home of Lahon.

béarn is part of the Pyrenees Atlantiques. The area around our home is a gently undulating landscape of farms, forests and vineyards dotted with small towns and villages to explore virtually unchanged since D'Artagnan strutted across his homeland. Like many areas of France, however, it is defined by its food and drink - duck is king (foie gras of course) along with many local cheeses and excellent red wines.

pau is 20 minutes away, a city full of Renaissance splendour and medieval charm. It is known as the English city where the first European golf course was established. The Boulevard des Pyrenees provides many bars where you can relax and view the mountains through the palm trees. It is the centre for the arts in the region with galleries, live music and celebrations throughout the year.

pyrenees a short journey to the south of Lahon, the valleys d'Ossau and d'Aspe give access to the mountains. Once there you can view breathtaking scenery, beautiful towns and villages, or for the more energetic, rambling, pony trekking, white water rafting and canoeing are available. Alternatively you can just relax, taste the food and drink the wine!

lahon (the Source) is our home situated in the peaceful hamlet of Mouhous just twenty minutes north of Pau airport and 40 minutes from the Pyrenees, in the rolling countryside of BŽarn Adour.

lahon is a 19th century house with detached barn and private pool. Set in 10 acres, with a small wood, the house is surrounded by farmland - covered in maize and sunflowers in the summer - on the edge of the hamlet of Mouhous, twenty minutes north of Pau. Ideal for getting away and relaxing, Sandy and Neil invite you to share this calm environment.

The property is ideally placed with access from the UK by low cost flights from London Stansted to Pau; Bristol, Luton and Gatwick to Toulouse, Bourdeaux and Biarritz. You can travel by TGV from Paris in just over 5 hours and by road, in two days, from the Channel Tunnel.

The nearest town is Garlin with a variety of shops, restaurants and a supermarket. In the surrounding area there are many small villages to explore such as Conchez-de-Béarn, Lembeye and Momas with its castle and gardens full of rare plants. The Atlantic coast is under 2 hours via the motorway, as is Toulouse.

Special events are the Historic Grand Prix and other motor races in Pau in May and a major European jazz festival in Marciac during August - plus many other music and gastronomic festivals in the surrounding towns and villages throughout the year.
